A SIMPLER WAY TO PREDICT PERFORMANCE

A newly published study has found that the simple ‘Cooper test’ (the maximum distance you can run in 12 minutes – see here for more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooper_test) is significantly better at predicting half-marathon performance than exotic VO2max lab tests (https://doi.org/10.3389/fphys.2019.01349). The researchers also concluded that the Cooper test is therefore an excellent way to evaluate performance changes in response to training.
