DISTANCE RUNNERS NEED TO STRENGTH TRAIN

A new study on the effects of strength training in distance runners has concluded adding resistance training to a running program strengthens of the muscles that support and propel the center of mass and accelerate the leg during running (https://link.springer.com/artiā€¦/10.1007%2Fs40279-019-01184-9). Less clear however was the mechanism by which these strength gains translate into more efficient running performance.
